The Houston Rockets and the Problem With Sensational News

See the source image

A couple of days ago it was reported that Chris Paul and James Harden had an "unsalvageable" relationship and that Chris Paul had demanded a trade. Yesterday Paul came out and said that the idea that he wanted a trade was "news to him". The GM of the Rockets also reiterated that Paul had never requested a trade and that he would be a Houston Rocket in the 2019-2020 season. I believe this brings up a very interesting question about journalism about whether it is more important to be first or to be accurate. Sensational news is very centered around the quick headline and others will follow suit and take a headline as fact. Who knows what is going on with the Rockets or what Paul truly thinks about his future in Houston but it is crucial that headlines are crosschecked before being stated as fact.
