A rising female photojournalist that caught my eye with her photos is,
Saiyna Bashir. Her work is primarily inspired by her personal experience
growing up in Pakistan where laws for women are more restrictive than what we
see in the Western World. Her photos document moments in gender equality and
sectarian violence. She has captured everything
from “women who survived acid attacks stemming from domestic violence” to “the
achievements of transgender people in Pakistan.” Her work has been featured on
several media platforms such as New York Times and The Telegraph.
Bashir’s work uses emotional appeal and shocking images in order to capture
her audiences and push towards change by displaying truthful and raw photos.
