First Impressions

Image result for newspaper

Newspapers seem to follow a similar general layout in their front pages. From the newspapers I’ve browsed through Newseum I noticed most newspapers have one rarely two top stories taking up most of the front page. Along with that there maybe a few controversial and entertainment stories that are given attention grabbing titles. Most newspapers provide pictures for the stories they want the readers to focus on as an additional attention grabber. One newspaper that caught my eye was Dothan Eagle. This newspaper includes daily weather forecast in the first left corner of page just underneath the title. this is interesting because other newspapers that do include the weather provide in the margins or at the very bottom to emphasize its triviality. Another interesting thing Dothan Eagle does is have a bible quote right under the title “‘For I heard them say, let us go to Dothan.’ -Genesis 37:13”. Dothan Eagle most likely uses this layout to cater to its audiences’ values and provide what information they seek everyday such as weather.
