Paying More For Less

This quote is from 2014 and the chart on top is from 2018 and it doesn't seem like our WiFi is getting much better. I told a friend of mine about how we pay more for our WiFi than many other countries while getting worse speeds for the price. He told me he knew and I could tell from the way he was speaking he was quite annoyed by this fact. He placed the blame on the WiFi providers saying that they had pretty much "monopolize the WiFi industry". Some place in the US only have the option for one provider and thus with the lack of competition the provider gets to name any price without much backlash. in Plano there is about a whopping 5 choices to choose from if you want to install WiFi in your home while in other countries they can have hundreds of options therefore companies need to keep thier prices and speeds competitive. The US lacks this competition and so until this happens or google fiber ever reaches us (probably not happening anytime soon at the pace it is spreading) we will have to be content with our overpriced snail of a WiFi.
