Tom Wall wrote about climate change in Fairbourne
UK a coastal town barely above sea level.
The town is being decommissioned out
of fear that rising sea levels will completely destroy it, if a catastrophic weather
event hits in the near future. By 2045 they
will start removing humans, returning the land to nature. I was drawn in by pictures of the town’s people
and their personal stories. They will be forced to relocate due to climate
change. Bev Wilkins and her dog, Lottie warn, “It’s going to happen elsewhere.” Homes and way of life lost without economic assistance
to rebuild. Climate change is very real for
communities, when rising sea levels, erosion, and droughts make the land uninhabitable.
