Deadly Journalism

Journalism can be a rewarding but dangerous career, from trying to uncover the truth or just being located in an unsafe area. According to Niall McCarthy, last year in 2018, "53 journalists are known to have been killed and 34 of them singled out for murder." He also states, "the number of media workers imprisoned has remained at a sustained high amid a global crackdown on press freedom." It is a terrible thing that journalists have to risk their lives or freedom to do their jobs. Their jobs are important because everyone deserves to know what is happening around the world or in these dangerous countries. We should all be thankful for these brave journalists.
