Fischer is a history teacher and an independent journalist. He is a “YouTube-based reporter who covers politics, activism, and extremism”. Because he makes videos on controversial issues his channel was recently taken down due to Youtube’s new redesigned policies. YouTube wanted to take stronger measures to avoid any sort of discriminating content, thus deleted many journalist accounts including Ford’s. Ford was one of the first deleted channels because his footage was often used by “documentarians and educators to study extremism and activist groups around the world”. In fact, Ford’s channel had been facing demonetization over time as he uploaded more and more controversial videos. This unjust treatment of Ford by the Youtube platform required him to seek another rhetorical strategy (besides sharing actual footage of events) to voice his thoughts: through personal interviews.
