Popular Social Media Apps and the News

Popular Social Media Apps and the News

Social media has a way of communicating information to a more ignorant audience. Many people nowadays will not go out and look for news on their own, they will just bump into it on social media. While this may be a great way to spread news everywhere, the information is not always correct and not every news that’s out there actually gets spread around through social media. “Our social media friends have become the ‘managing editors’ deciding what we see,” said an article by Nicole Martin on Forbes. This is very true because everyone gets to spread and interpret news in their own way this way and these sites that are being used as a platform can also decide what gets to be kept up or what needs to be taken down. Apps like Snapchat and Twitter have their own section or “stories” that have direct news sources spreading information. Whatever way a person gets their news can be useful, everyone just has to understand that not everything on social media will be correct and also that social media can be the greatest way to spread news to the much more ignorant population.
