Fake News and who spreads it

Fake news has increasingly become a problem. MIT decided to do a study to see how fake news spreads, specifically on Twitter. One thing that found was “news categorized as false or fake was 70 percent more likely than true news to receive a retweet.” They claim that he fake news was more novel which is why it got more retweets. The emotional response of the reader also factored into the engagement. They also claim that bots have nothing to do with the spread of fake news. They studied them and found they don’t really differentiate from fake or true news but just spread everything. So, spreading fake news really is on us.
