Misleading Nutrition

Nutrition labels can be confusing and misleading. Many Americans are eating foods that they think are healthy, but are actually unhealthy. According to the New York Post, "82 percent of Americans have felt tricked by nutrition labels." Big companies just want to sell their foods, therefore they market them as "healthy" or "sugar free". When a product has no sugar added or sugar free, that does not mean what it appears, many of those products include artificial sweeteners or other chemicals to add sweetness. Serving size is another way to trick consumers. Drinks, instant ramen, and candy bars are a few of the items that use this serving size trick. The FDA is actually making changes to nutrition labels and requiring more accurate serving sizes and more clear labels. This should help the average consumer make better choices.
