Spotlight
I watched the film, Spotlight,
a film about investigative journalism. The story revolves around the Boston
Globe’s investigation of the Catholic Church. Upon watching this film, I felt
that it accurately depicted the triumphs and challenges of investigative
journalism. According to a Pro Publica article, the film “vividly captures the
mix of frustration, drudgery and excitement that goes into every great
investigative story. Where liberties were taken, and there were a few, they are
in line with the realities of the news business.” I learned that there
is a lot that goes into the process of investigative journalism, and sometimes
the importance of a story is not always prioritized within the news. I felt that
the film did a good job of depicting the story of Boston Globe’s investigation
within the Catholic Church and I learned a lot about the process behind
journalism.

Disinformation on Your Feed
Social media is a huge aspect
in people’s lives in today’s world. Due to this, being a social media
influencer is now a career option. For some celebrity’s and other social media
influencer’s advertising on their social media platforms is a part of their
job. But in a lot of cases these influencers are not researching the products
they are promoting to their followers, they’re simply promoting a product for a
pay check even if they have not used this product themselves. Yet in their ads for
the product they talk about how much “they love it and use it.” Companies use
influencer’s with a following as a marketing tool, and these influencer’s only
help sell the product to consumers even if doesn’t work which contributes to
the spread of disinformation. Despite this Instagram, “has largely escaped
scrutiny” however, “the platform is likely where the next great battle against
misinformation will be fought.”

Vitamin Water or Soda?
Vitamin Water was introduced to society a few years back as being a well liked and bought drink. The name "Vitamin Water" made it seem as if this drink was healthy for our bodies by replenishing it with the necessary vitamins we may need. Many were eager to try this new drink because of its name without reading the ingredients that are in these drinks. There are five points that have been proven by EcoWatch.com that make Vitamin Water greater or equal to a soda; vitamin water is high in liquid sugar and can contain the same amount of fructose as a can of Coke. Two, sugar sweetened beverages are fattening, third, they risk your chances of diseases, as well as the fact that they contain vitamins that people get enough of already. Be careful as to what we put into our bodies even if it sounds healthy!

Healthy Food
Eating healthy is not cheap. The doctors want you to eat fresh vegetables and fruits and lean meats but most people can not afford it. Unfortunately it is cheaper to buy processed foods which cause weight gain. Today’s life is way to expensive and eating healthy is put on hold. Very sad
Flu shots
I strongly believe in flu shots. It helps reduce the effects of the symptoms. It’s beneficial for people with health conditions. So many people get the shot and it helps them either not get the flu or it helps in the symptoms not being as bad. I have received shot for six years now . ya he only thing is I wish the strain we get was a current one not the strain from last few years flu.
Legalize Marijuana
I strongly believe that THC and CbD should be legal in Texas. I have seen what it can do for seizures,PTSD, Anxiety, and pain. It’s medical benefits are phenomenal. The rewards from being seizure free and help to ease pain through the use of marijuana is just encouraging in today’s world. Legalize and help people who need it.
Satirical Approach
To some, it can come as a shock that there is a news source that produces only fake news. The Onion is a news outlet that makes up bogus news stories but passes them off as the truth. "The Onion's articles cover current events, both real and fictional satirizing the tone" of the stories. While most people know the writers are giving comedic relief, others use this source was a valid news outlet. They utilize Twitter to spread more of their articles, which leads to some people to retweet it without knowing it's not actually real. It's not that they're trying to come off as a real news source, it's just that some people believe that it is. [1 image, 1 link, 1 quote, 118 words.]
